ZeBar

The newly opened bar in Shanghai with its characteristic name ZeBar is definitely not one of the ordinary places. On the contrary – its picture will stuck to your mind after the first visit. The interior reminds us of an underground shelter, a cave or something similarly mysterious. The structure is composed of panels which look like ribs and limit the space. These ribs are not scattered randomly but in a certain rhythmical sequence just like the floor. Together with the architectural studio 3GATTI a Singapore director and ex-musician participated on the design. Just as music has no limits so does this place look without any limits thanks to the curves used. The architects had to work with an incredibly low budget. The form appears complex, but was actually very simple and born from the digital 3D modeling environments. An intriguing play of shadows and light to produce a striped effect resembling a zebra or space subdivided into slices was utilised. The interior was completed in only several months and opened on New Year`s Day.
