Henning Larsen Architects were tasked with designing a new, top-notch modern international headquarters for the company Spiegel. The building is in the north of Germany, in the coastal Hamburg. Architects have chosen a two-part composition that would openly communicate with its surroundings. The complex has a characteristic expression, enhanced by the choice of materials and their specific properties.
Since the current trend in Germany for new objects is sustainability, this one was not an exception. Both the investor and authors strived for fulfillment of all five of the categories such as energy consumption, environmentally friendly building materials or health and comfort. While this project was completed in 2011 it will take some time to evaluate some of the categories, since the results show after a longer use of the building.
