Beyond Environment Exhibition Installation

Call For Proposals: Beyond Environment Installation LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) 6522 Hollywood Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90028
The curators for the exhibition Beyond Environment, to be held in September and October 2014, are hosting a competition to design and build three pavilions at the LACE gallery. Beyond Environment explores the potent interchange between architecture, Land Art, and Performance Art that emerged through Italian architect Gianni Pettena’s collaboration with American artists Allan Kaprow and Robert Smithson in the 1970s. Captivated by a journey to the USA in 1971, Pettena’s About Non Conscious Architecture series would converse with the American Midwest, a conversation culminating in his meeting with Robert Smithson in Salt Lake City. Earlier, while in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pettena’s experiments in material transformations helped create some of architect’s most iconic works. Staged in Minneapolis in an abandoned school and in a non-descriptive suburban house, and titled Ice House I and II, Pettena would pour water into the mold works he created around the buildings’ perimeter walls. Curing during the winter night to a coat of ice, the houses resonated with their conceptual predecessor, Kaprow’s Fluids of 1967, as well as with a newer contemporary architectural sensibly concerned with the effects of variedly compounded, highly eidetic architectural surfaces.
Curated by Emanuele Piccardo and Amit Wolf, in collaboration with the Graham Foundation, Beyond Environment combines approximately thirty works by Pettena, Kaprow, Smithson, as well as from Pettena’s Florentine milieu, that of Superarchitecture and the Italian “Radical” groups UFO, Superstudio, and 9999.
Competitors are asked to reconsider this architecture-art complex using contemporary technologies and materials. An exhibition of selected proposals will be hosted concurrently at the WUHO Gallery. Program Requirements: Design three pavilions that will act as media rooms, each approximately 10’ x 10’ x 10’. Important aspects of the design are therefore the control of light/visual/sound elements, and the further manipulation of the pavilions’ envelope to accommodate seating and display. competition packet for existing gallery layout (plan and section) as well as dates for site visits will be sent to participants following registration. The winning designer(s) will be presented with a budget of $4000.
Submission Requirements and Process:
There will be a preliminary round of judging, from which a short-list of three candidates will emerge. The final judging will be held on 30, May, 2014. The winning proposal will collaborate with the curators, engaging in all aspects of the project realization including design sessions, discussions of the projects’ amendments/adjustments, and technical investigations into the pavilions’ realization. 24” x 36” presentation board (landscape format), mounted on rigid board or foamcore, with the following images: plan, section, perspective of media room, narrative (maximum 500 words). 1. My brother recommended I might like this blog. He was totally right.
This post truly made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this information!

  2. I’m curious to find out what blog system you happen to be utilizing?
I’m experiencing some small security issues with my latest website and
I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any solutions?

  3. Over the last half decade there has been a huge transformation in how content providers utilize
mobility for user engagement and keeping track
of changing technology. This is a valuable way to increase your e – Bay
sales and also generate more traffic to your e – Bay store.

I guess the older you get you realize that history
does just repeat itself over and over again.

  4. A smile has a great impact on the overall appearance
of the person; therefore, while going for a dental makeover it is advisable to select
the right cosmetic dentist who has experience and expertise in the field.
According to scientists, neither the Maya nor the Arctic peoples ever
brushed their teeth. The mercury free dentist aims to improve the
overall health of the person by guiding his patients regarding the usage of foods, toothpastes, and
mouthwashes for healthy and safe teeth and gums.

  5. Adjustable pitch, Aluminium [LM-6] or FRP Fan Blades are directly mounted on the Electric motor [IP 55, with Stainless steel shaft, TEFC Special type cooling tower motor] to
avoid excess power consumption and unnecessary gear driven problems.
If it was not for the functionality and reliability of vortex tubes, spot-cooling can be insanely
complicated and expensive for these operations. The water cools rapidly as it comes in contact with the air which
is drawn through inlets called fills.

  7. For the greasy stains you can use a cocktail of
water and lemon juice. Rinse the area of the rug you just finished cleaning with a cup of water
to flush out any residue that could get left behind.
No amount of cleaning can remove the odor and many home owners and building maintenance staff have found that the
only way to remove the odor is to replace the carpet.

You also need to take into account how this house extension would affect your neighbours, as well as how accessible the house
would be afterward. By doing it yourself you
can save a lot of money but will have to put a lot
of time and effort into getting things right.
